The ceremony was held in the garden of Castaways Resort with the sound of waves crashing against the shore in the distance. As they exchanged their vows, the ocean breeze gently blew through their hair, creating a sense of calm and serenity.

As the night fell, the reception kicked off under a large tent at the resort. The guests dined on delicious food and danced the night away .

A wedding at The Billabong in Kuranda, is an event unlike any other. The tranquil waters, the lush greenery, and the serene surroundings create a breathtaking backdrop for a couple's special day. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding at the Biillabong, and it was truly a magical experience.

The ceremony was amazing, with the couple exchanging heartfelt vows and rings. The serene surroundings of the billabong created a sense of calm and intimacy, making it the perfect location for such an important moment. With the sun setting in the background of the ceremony.

After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed a cocktail hour by the water , complete with signature cocktails and canapés. The newlyweds took some time to explore the area and take some stunning photos against the backdrop of the Billabong and the rainforest landscape.

Palm Cove is a small coastal village located about 25 minutes north of Cairns, in Far North Queensland, Australia. Green Island is a small coral cay located about 45 minutes off the coast of Cairns, in Far North Queensland, Australia. It's a popular wedding destination due to its crystal-clear waters, pristine beaches, and lush tropical rainforest. The bride and groom chose the Green Island Resort for their wedding ceremony and reception.

After the ceremony, we took some photos on the beach and around the island, capturing the stunning scenery and lush greenery. The bride and groom were a joy to work with, and their love and happiness were evident in every photo we took.

After the ceremony, we made our way to the nearby cane fields of Freshwater for portraits. The location was absolutely stunning, with the rows of sugar cane stretching out as far as the eye could see. The couple looked radiant as we walked through the fields, stopping for portraits in various spots.

Cheenee and Chay got married at St.Monicas Cathedral Cairns in October.

St. Monica's Cathedral is an impressive building with beautiful architecture, and it made for the perfect backdrop for the wedding ceremony. The natural light inside the cathedral was stunning, and it provided me with some incredible photo opportunities as the bride and groom exchanged their vows.

After the lovely ceremony we went for a stroll around Cairns for photos. Cairns is such a beautiful city, so it’s so I love it when I get to utilise all these amazing locations here!

Overall, it was a beautiful day, and I was honored to be a part of it. The wedding ceremony at St. Monica's Cathedral was breathtaking, and the portraits we took around Cairns were stunning. Palm Cove is one of my favourite places for weddings here in Cairns. I was super excited for this wedding, since it was going to be my first 100% full day wedding since 2019, and it was going to take place at Peppers Resort and Spa Palm Cove, but snap lockdowns in Brisbane and Cairns unfortunately put a stop to that. Wanting to keep their special date, they still went ahead with a super intimate and personal ceremony on the beach. Luckily they quickly got in contact with a celebrant and everything got sorted in time!

Kirsty and Jason got married in a small ceremony in beautiful Little Cove, located in Rex Smeal Park in Port Douglas. Little Cove is such perfect spot for a small wedding ceremony, it’s tucked away at the end of Rex Smeal Park, so it feels secluded and private and it’s surrounded by palm trees with the Coral Sea in the background.

After the ceremony we hit up the rainforest boardwalk next to Little Cove and hid in the fig trees before wandering along Rex Smeal Park and the beautiful palm trees!

PORT DOUGLAS WEDDING PORTRAITS // SHERATON GRAND MIRAGE RESORT, PORT DOUGLAS

Josh and Lauren came up from Brisbane to have a small ceremony in amazingly beautiful Port Douglas and I got to take som bridal portraits of them after!

We started at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Port Douglas where the ceremony was held, followed by Little Cove and the iconic palm lined Rex Smeal Park. We finished off our lovely bridal portrait session in front of the Sugar Wharf during sunset. Their wedding was bookended by rain both before and after, so we were lucky the sun came out!

CAIRNS ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY -
Rachel and Sam initially planned to have a full-sized wedding at Laloli Gardens, just outside Gordonvale, and south of Cairns, in Tropical North Queensland . But then Covid happened, and all plans were indefinitely paused.
They then eloped in their backyard in Cairns. It was everything you imagine an intimate and stress-free wedding day to be. The ceremony was lovely and personal, followed by a quick photo session down the street next to some beautiful bamboo! Thanks for having me along and trusting me with your photos, it was so sweet to spend these few hours with you guys on this most significant of days. Congratulations!

TRINITY PARK WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY -

Elopements in Cairns have become the new 2020 wedding celebration. Instead of stressing and delaying, postponing, changing dates and vendors, lovely Sarah and Craig said their "I do"s in a beautiful small ceremony in a Holiday House in Trinity Park, Cairns. 

Ditching the huge ceremony and reception, they went for an intimate and personal celebration of love. With only a couple of us present to witness. A Cairns elopement doesn't have to be less special or second best, just because it's an elopement. More people are opening their eyes to the beauty and individuality of elopements.  

Eloping truly is incredibly romantic and super emotional, I absolutely love them, and I can't wait to get to photograph more in the future!

This lovely couple got married in Finland and got their wedding portraits done in beautiful Palm Cove, in Tropical North Queensland . They had been to Cairns about 7 years ago, and this was one of their favourite spots back then. This is one of my favourite wedding portrait locations and I highly recommend this spot for both wedding and family portraits! This was a great way to do wedding portraits, with the ceremony and reception already done months ago, the stress of a wedding day was gone. And all they had to worry about was walking on the palm-lined beach in Palm Cove, with the afternoon sun peeking through the trees.

This lovely family came to Port Douglas on holiday for their 5 year anniversary! And what better time to get family photos done? Sunny Port Douglas never disappoints and I love coming up here for family photos and weddings. Every time you turn a corner in Port Douglas you can find another gem where you can get som amazing photos with a good mix of posed and candid.

I would truly recommend, that if you are going to Port Douglas, or Cairns for that matter, to book a photography session for you and your partner, or for your family. Being a Cairns wedding photographer is such a joy. I had the most fantastic day photographing the wedding of Kirsten and Luke! The wedding took place at Wangetti Beach, just north of Cairns on the way to Port Douglas, in Far North Queensland. They chose to celebrate and declare their love by one of the most secluded of the beaches around Cairns, with lots of diverse spots for the bridal photography session after the ceremony, and a stunning view of the sparkling ocean.

The sun hid behind the clouds, which made all the colours of the wedding really pop in the even and smooth light. Perfect light for wedding photography! I really do feel lucky to live in this part of the world and to be able to take photos of the most special moments in a couple's lives.

I had the most amazing day photographing this wedding! Steff & Chris got married on the amazing Fitzroy Island, just 45 minutes by boat from Cairns. It’s such an amazing Cairns wedding venue! I had a great time being their wedding photographer, the couple and their family and friends, were incredibly welcoming and friendly all day and evening.

I always wanted to do a wedding at Fitzroy Island, and I can’ wait to do more weddings at this breathtaking locations! The ceremony was held on one of the many beaches on Fitzroy Island in the afternoon, followed by a super fun reception after the most beautiful sunset I’ve seen in years!

Living in tropical Cairns, right next to the ocean and the Great Barrier Reef, and having the rainforest on the other side, is truly amazing! Because oh my god! This location! Stoney Creek is absolutely perfect for elopements! The ceremony was just a small hike, about 5 minutes into the forest and down to the creek. The surroundings were also perfect for the bridal portraits afterwards.

Amies purple coloured wedding dress really suited the deep greens of the rainforest. And the choice of wedding flowers worked perfectly in sync with the dress and the location.

I hope I’ll get to do a Stoney Creek Wedding or Elopement again because I absolutely love this little spot!

MONA MONA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY -
Had a blast capturing this "outback" wedding with Ali and George!   The ceremony was beautiful and filled with friends and family from all over. For photos, we went just over from where the ceremony was, to the long grass and the water tank, next to the place where Ali and George are going to build their house soon.

The reception so much fun with some great people and amazing food.
I think I got some of my most unique photos yet from a wedding.  It’ll be a long time before I get another wedding with an emu in it at least!

Wedding at gorgeous Billabong Bed & Breakfast in Holloways Beach, Cairns, Far North Queensland. Such a beautiful little place for a wedding! Situated about 9KM from Cairns! It’s a little oasis in the middle of suburbia, you can’t even tell that roads are surrounding it. Such a peaceful and stunning place! The ceremony took place next to the pond and was very relaxed and easy-going. And after the signing, we took a short walk around the venue for some bridal portraits in the beautiful surroundings.

Cairns Botanic Gardens looks amazing during summer, so braving the humidity and heat is no problem!

This lovely couple spent the holidays back in Cairns and wanted some family photos while celebrating Christmas with the family here. We did some amazingly sweet portraits in one of the open areas of the gardens. A large tree cast shade over us too shield us from the scorching sun. Perfect spot for a bench and for the young ones to run around while all the adults get their portraits taken!

Cairns Botanic Gardens will always be one of my favourite spots in Cairns to do both engagement and family shoots.

The plants, flowers, trees and general spaces and backgrounds are all so incredibly diverse! It also gets some great light in the afternoon , but provides lots of shade during the warmer hours of the day!

Larissa and Justin rented a beautiful house in Cairns where Larissa got ready. And that’s the part I got to photograph! A bit different to leave and not do the ceremony, but it was still very lovely! I got to meet Larissa's beautiful little daughter, and she was just a joy to photograph! I then went for a quick trip to the Big 4 Crystal Cascades Holiday Park where the boys got ready and some snaps of them. Since the ceremony took place at The Rocks, just across the road, it made perfect sense as a preparation spot.

It was a wonderful sunny day, with a bright blue sky and the beach was full of palm trees and paperbark gum trees. The ceremony was truly special and the guests had a great view of the couple with the ocean in the background. The reception that followed was held on the Forest Deck amongst the beautiful nature and under the shining stars.

Beautiful day in Cairns for a family photoshoot!
Took the trip to Rankine Timber & Truss to capture this lovely little family in the afternoon glow of the September sun. A new location for me, and I loved it! That afternoon sun in Palm Cove does wonders for portrait photos! I was doing another family photography session in Palm Cove when Marina came up to me and wanted to book in her session. They were having a small family vacation in Port Douglas and Palm Cove, just north of Cairns, and wanted some beautiful family photos from the trip.

Booking a photographer when you're on holiday is a great idea since when are you ever in the photos yourself unless it's a selfie? And how many times can you hand your phone to a stranger and ask if they can take a quick snapshot of the whole family? The palm trees at Palm Cove, are such an incredibly beautiful place for photos. So I would really recommend getting a professional photo shoot if you're staying nearby!

TINAROO WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY -

This was an amazing wedding next to the beautiful Tinaroo Lake, a man-made reservoir on the Atherton Tableland in Far North Queensland, Australia. The wedding was held at the lovely and peaceful Genazzano Retreat. Only an hour away from Cairns, this is a super relaxed and great place for a wedding. The bride wore her mother's wedding dress with an added ribbon around the waist to match the wedding theme. The ceremony took place right next to the lake and was a beautiful service. It was incredibly personal and really special. It was all followed by a relaxed drinks reception on the large outdoor area next to the retreat.

The day was filled with a ton of love from family and friends! Such a special day, congratulations you two!

Went up the hill to take photos of this family get-together! On the drive up, the sun was shining brightly, and as soon as I got there, the clouds rolled in and the lightning lit up the sky behind us. Unfortunately, I didn't get to capture the lightning, which would get us some cool backgrounds! But the dramatic clouds were pretty cool too!

Always lovely to be a Cairns photographer when you get to take photos of multiple generations at once!

Kim and Zach had such a lovely group of friends and families, and that contributed to the wedding being super relaxed and chill. This end of Palm Cove is so great for weddings, as it’s separate from the rest of the beach, and has a diverse group of locations in a very short distance from where the ceremony took place. The jetty also makes a group photo incredibly easy!

The Chan Family flew up from Melbourne for Grandma’s 70th birthday and had a fun family photography session at the Fig Tree Playground next to the Cairns Wharf!

Doing a photo session next to a playground is a great idea, especially one as photogenic at the Fig Tree Playground in the city!

It lets the kids play around and I can capture them while playing naturally and on the plus side, you can print out the photos and hang them up and they don't have a yellow, green and red playground in the background clashing with the wall!

Family photography in Cairns is so easy, because we've got so many incredible locations here, and most of them are close to a playground so we can do family photos and photos of the kids first, and then the kids can play while I take som nice couple photos of the parents and grandparents!

Family photography session at the Farmer family’s amazing property in Biboohra!

Biboohra is a little over an hours drive from Cairns, so I thought I would start early, so I could take my time and beat the rain that looked like it was coming in.

Well, I followed Google Maps, went past Koah... ended up on a dirt road, and basically almost got stuck! Good thing I started early, or I wouldn't have made it! It was super easy to get there by just following the highway, so now I know to double-check Google Maps and maybe look for dirt roads to avoid!

I did get there in time though and got some beautiful photos of this little family before the rain washed over us.

CAIRNS COUPLE PHOTOGRAPHY -
Instead of doing a standard couple photography session with Benedicte & Patrik, we decided to do a little something out of the box! Finding colour powder in Cairns is apparently a bit of a mission, so luckily I had a while to find somewhere that shipped it. So if you want a colour powder photo session, please let me know well in advance!

Such a fun photo shoot for this couple! They wanted something different and the colour powder was the perfect fit for them! It turned into a fun-filled melee and made for some awesome action shots - and plenty of laughs.

They also bought new white T-shirts for this, because boy, was it hard to get out of the wash!

I am always open to more fun ideas like this, that are unique to you in some way! Want to throw flour at each other for your engagement photography session? Go for it! I'm in!

OSLO PHOTOGRAPHY || DESTINATION PHOTOGRAPHY

The following photoshoot is on location in the bustling, busy and usually cold Oslo, the capital city of Norway. We found a lovely little park in front of a beautiful church. This beautiful couple are accompanied by their absolutely adorable little Pug who were fantastic models on the day! These photos were taken while I was abroad in 2015 whilst visiting my Norwegian friends and family, I couldn't help but take the photos of this little family compiled of my close friends and Loyal (the pug)! 

I have always found taking photos in Norway is such a different experience. Mainly due to the absolute change of scenery especially when compared to warm sunny beaches made of gold and blues and the lush greens of the palm trees in North Queensland, a visual change of pace for any photographer.

Taking photos in Norway gives me the chance to experiment with a range of darker colours! So different yet still so beautiful.

Newborn photography sessions are always so rewarding. Watching new parents bond with their newborn, whether it's outside or in their home.

Holloways Beach is not somewhere I go too often, but it's always beautiful, especially in photographs.

It's one of many beaches in Cairns, and I think I've done photoshoots on them all now!

CAIRNS FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY -
Three generations on Cairns Esplanade!

This was such a large customised Cairns family shoot, showcasing a few of the beautiful places for Cairns family photography.

We started in Cairns City on the Esplanade and around it to get some lovely photos with the ocean in the background. If you're after a Cairns Photographer, the Cairns Esplanade is great for photos if you're travelling to Cairns on holiday and you're staying in the City.

We then went to Trinity Beach! This is also such a great place for photos and super convenient if you're staying here. Trinity Beach is a lovely little area that can sometimes be very windy! But we lucked out on this day, and everything was lovely and still.

Then we took the trip to Palm Cove, which is my favourite place for photos in Cairns! It is such a beautiful place! So many different spots for a family photography session

And we finished it all at Cairns Botanic Gardens, again one of my favourite places in Cairns. Covered by the lush beautiful trees, the shade provides a great cover during both our scorching sun and the sprinkling rain.

Newborn Photoshoot Cairns and 6month photoshoot!

Sometimes to do something different, I do fashion and model photography sessions, to work those creative muscles!

Benedicte is a Norwegian model, who needed some diversity in her portfolio. And where better than sunny Cairns to do something different? Swimsuit fashion is perfect for this hot climate we've got here, so we hopped in the pool and out in the tropics!

CAIRNS FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY -

Being a Cairns family photographer, the Cairns Botanic Gardens is a perfect spot for photography sessions!

It was raining the first time we attempted this photoshoot, so we only got a couple of photos in! But we tried again the next weekend and even though it was sprinkling a tiny bit, the trees of the Botanic Garden shielded the worst of it. The lush tropical green plants and trees always look amazing, so a bit of rain doesn't really matter.

With a blanket underneath and the trees overhead, it protects against all the wetness of the tropics in Cairns. And after you and the kids are done in the gardens, you can go play in the nature playground next to the Centenary Lakes!

CAIRNS MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY
A few photos of the beautiful Coates family, first maternity photography, then an at-home newborn photography session.

Getting in a maternity photography session before you book your newborn session, really creates a stunning story, and will be so amazing to look back at!

At-home newborn photography is a great solution for a family! As a mother myself, I know that you don’t necessarily want to go anywhere with your newborn straight away. Newborns have a delicate immune system so an at-home session is perfect to keep those germs away! You get to be at home with your blankets, your things, that you know are clean! Most people also feel most comfortable at home, where you can sit with the new member of your family in the comfort of your home. No worrying about packing everything up, especially if the newborn has siblings!

On your couch, bed outside in your yard, your photos will feel more comfortable and more authentic.

And I get to capture the very personal magic of having a newborn.
